Council Tax Officer / Revenues & Benefits Officer – Lewisham (Temp Vacancy)

Umbrella Pay Rate: £25.52ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Job Purpose:

• Efficiently and effectively recover debts. 
• Maximise collection in accordance with Financial Procedures and statutory regulations.  Provide a high standard of service to customers
• Ensure all necessary action is taken to collect revenue efficiently and effectively & process applications for discounts and other reliefs, with due regard to internal and external fraud prevention and detection.
• Review existing discounts, exemptions awards to verify authenticity.  Where inappropriate awards or those obtain by deception are identified, take swift action to recover the debt.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with procedures, agreed time scales and those dictated by legislation.
• Deal with difficult queries including complaints by correspondence, telephone, face to face and electronically, ensuring timely, accurate, appropriate responses.
• Undertake proactive work and participate in outreach work to improve collection.
• Prepare records and maintain statistics as directed. Deal with system reports and other output as required.
• Adhere to the Data Protection Act and be aware of your personal responsibilities.
