Finance Assistant – Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service
£12.02ph
Temp – Full Time
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Finance Team.
- Interrogate the Financial Management System to produce spreadsheet analysis as required by members of the Finance Team.
- Input journal entries into the Financial Management system.
- Assist in the year end closure of accounts process.
- Collate the Authority’s banking income, and ensure prompt deposit into the Authority’s bank account.
- Arrange the issue of Sundry Debtor invoice requests in respect of the Co-responder, Cardiac arrest and Falls-responder schemes, staff secondments etc ensuring backing evidence is maintained.
- Accurately maintain and monitor income records, including the Co-responder, Cardiac arrest and Falls-responder schemes; staff secondments and grants.
- Maintain the Sundry Debtor Control spreadsheet and pursue settlement of debts via letter, mail and telephone in order to reduce payment time. Therefore minimising bad debts and write offs through effective account management and customer service.
- Assist in the preparation of paperwork for recovery action of outstanding debts and calculation of bad debt provision.
- On a daily basis update the bank account balances and monitor the cash flow, alerting the Accounting Services Manager to any unexpected cash flows.
- Weekly/Monthly update of cash reconciliation working papers for Creditors and Payroll to feed into the monthly bank reconciliation process.
- Monitor any changes to the Authority's Car Leasing Scheme, ensuring that the appropriate lease schedules are kept updated and the relevant notification is sent to the HMRC.
- Assist with weekly Creditors processing during absence of staff and at peak periods.
