Team Leader - Young People Leaving Care - East London
Are you a passionate, dedicated Team Leader looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Team Leader to join and manage a team of Leaving Care Support Workers based in East London.
Annual Rate: £33k
Duration: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5.30pm, 37.5 hrs/week – Office based
Team Leader role: Full JD Available
- To manage up to 7 Leaving Care Support Workers.
- Oversee the welfare of up to 70 Young People Leaving Care.
- Assist and support Young People through the process of leaving care.
- Support the referrals process.
- Work with high risk/ need clients.
- Observe and assess the behaviour of Young People.
- Make weekly checks on the properties and to liaise with key staff to make sure that maintenance, Health and Safety standards are reported and addressed.
- Complete and monitor risk assessments and arrange for annual maintenance and fire inspections.
- Ensure safeguarding and protecting the welfare of each young person and promote the development of a healthy lifestyle.
- Provide firm, consistent, and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour.
- Maintain trusting working relationships with the young people that will promote their sense of security.
- Engage in and supervise care practices, creating an accepting environment conducive to the positive personal development of each Young Person.
- Undertake in planning for and preparation of Young People for admission or discharge.
- Hold and contribute to monthly staff meetings; this involves participation and collaboration with other staff in the provision of care to enable the maintenance & development of the provision.
- Work closely and in co-operation with social work staff, specialists and other professional agencies and maintain appropriate professional relationships with families and other support agencies.
- Participate in the staff appraisal scheme.
- Undertake training to maintain continuing professional development.
- Undertake routine administrative tasks and provide written reports and maintain the Young Person’s file.
- Receive complaints in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Company.
Essential Requirements
- UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
- NVQ Level 3 minimum in Health and Social Care (Children & Young People) or Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent
- At least 1 years’ experience managing Outreach Leaving Care Support Workers
- Previous experience of at least 1 year working with Young People Leaving Care
- Self-motivated and a positive nature
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Commitment to personal and professional development
- Willing to work additional hours where needed
- Level 1 or 2 in Child Safeguarding
- You Must Have Right to Live & Work in the UK
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service
