Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Worker - Barnsley

Are you a passionate, dedicated Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Worker looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Drug and Alcohol Worker to join a Young People’s Substance Misuse Team based in Barnsley. 

Pay Rates: £20.56 per hour

Duration: 02/10/2023 - 6 months initially 

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm, 37 hrs/week - Hybrid

Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Worker role: Full JD Available

  • Direct work with young people on a one to one basis
  • Risk assess, address, and review their substance use
  • Deliver and review personalised support plans which focus on improving resilience, participation, achievement, attainment, positive lifestyle choices and improving health and wellbeing
  • Be responsible for the development and delivery of an early intervention and prevention offer
  • Deliver interventions from Early Intervention to Structured Treatment Interventions
  • Deliver evidence based interventions, empowering them to reduce risk and improve their health and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with multiagency partners and refer on where appropriate
  • Ensure referrals and pathways are appropriate to the presenting level of needs and risk
  • Always act as an appropriate role model for children and young people and provide advocacy to them and their parents/ carers
  • Building strong, trusting working relationships
  • Maintain all files, records and reporting
  • Deliver training and consultation to the Children and Young People’s Workforce on issues facing young people around substance misuse
  • Support the development of positive peer support networks, where appropriate

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum Level 4 Qualification or extensive equivalent experience
  • Level 2 qualification or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Substantial experience in youth or outreach work
  • Recent experience working with children, young people or adults who are involved in drug and alcohol use
  • Recent experience in using therapeutic interventions with children, young people and families who present risk of harm to themselves and others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quality assure supervisor contact reports, make observations and assessments, and to write high quality reports
  • You Must Have Right to Live & Work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service
