Job Description

Leicestershire County Council – Administrative Officer / Transport Coordinator

Location: Loughborough RHWS and WTS, Railway Terrace, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 1HW

Contract: Initial One Month Contract with Possible Further Extension

Hours: Full Time 37 Hours a Week – 9:00am to 5:00pm - Monday to Friday

Payrate: £10.62 an Hour

Job Purpose

To assist management with the day-to-day operation of Leicestershire County Council’s Recycling & Household Waste Sites (RHWS) haulage service, and outputs from the Waste Transfer Stations (WTS) excluding Whetstone.

Main activities & Responsibilities:

To ensure that services are delivered for the benefit of the people of Leicestershire

To maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with customers and colleagues within the team and across the service

To ensure activities are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner possible

Service Responsibilities

Ensure all uplifts are completed within the required timescales

Act on issued weekly performance reports

To manage a team of Drivers and ensure they have the adequate resources, and training to undertake their work.

Ensure that daily checks are completed, defects to be reported immediately

To be responsible for the day to day activities of the Drives including issuing daily routes and ensuring they;

Complete tasks in a cost-efficient manner

Complete daily paperwork

Wear correct uniform and PPE whilst on duty

Clean up any spillages caused by their actions in the course of their service,

Undertake weekly Torque checks

Keep vehicles presentable and clean inside and out.

Ensure fuel cards, PDA’s and keys are signed in/out daily

Ensure Tacho’s are signed in/out monthly

Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management systems, permits or licences

Identify and report opportunities to improve customer service and recycling rates by challenging existing working practices

Understand the needs of customers, enabling effective channels of communication and a consistency of approach to customer communications

To assist with recruitment, induction, training and development programmes to help develop the service and ensure it has the skills it needs

Responsible for protecting and managing information securely, and reporting breaches or suspected information security breaches, in line with Council policies.
