Bolton – Access to information Officer
Location: Victoria Square, Bolton, West Midlands, Lancashire, BL1 1RU
Contract: Initial Five-month contract with further extensions
Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday
Payrate: £11 an Hour.
We are looking for an Access to Information Officer to join our Information Governance Team of experienced IG officers.
Good knowledge of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 is required as is experience of undertaking complex subject access requests.
You will have a strong eye for detail and good communication skills.
Files will be requested from our client departments and requests will be considered in line with legislation and guidance.
You will know how to react documents and have experience of using redaction software such as adobe.
In this role you will support other officers to develop and improve their awareness of IG issues and you will assist the team manager with regards to any inspections and reporting back to our IG Board and leadership team.

You will receive supervision on a regular basis and be able to engage in receiving and providing training.
To manage and process Data Subject Access Requests under information rights legislation including privacy and Common Law and Human Rights Act
Provide advice, guidance and training regarding retention, disposal and records management
To undertake audits to ensure that the Council maintains appropriately the records it holds in Social Care
To support Information Asset Owners in the production of Records of Processing Activities, in particular retention schedules.
Assist in the development of Information Governance policies and standards
Assist the Information Governance Team Leader with any OfSTED, ICO, DSPT and CCG inspections where Information Governance is a key line of enquiry
Protect the reputation of the council with regards to information governance.
Signpost enquiries to more appropriate sources of information as appropriate
Assist with other Information Governance related areas as requested by the Information Governance Team Leader
