Children’s Brokerage Officer – Redbridge (Temp Vacancy)

Umbrella Pay Rate: £22.00ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Job Purpose:

To arrange placements within the prescribed timeframes in line with the council budget.

To provide day-to-day delivery of Children’s Brokerage i.e. assisting with all types of placements such as Looked After Children, Children with Disabilities, Family Intervention Team, Community Social Work Team and the Child Protection Teams.

Accountabilities:  

  • To provide cover for other Placement/Brokerage Officers in their absence for example during leave and sickness absences
  • To represent or deputise for the Team Leader at her/his request.
  • To participate fully in the Council’s employee’s communications system, supervision, personal development and performance programmes.
  • To be smart and presentable at all times in compliance with the current dress code.
  • Any other duties appropriate to this area of work and consistent with the level of the post, as may from time to time be required.
  • To assist in the management of the duty box as and when necessary
  • To search for appropriate placements for children and young people in line with the social worker’s request
  • To ensure that referral forms are anonymised before sharing these with providers
  • To communicate with providers in order to ascertain the availability of placements
  • To ensure that we prioritise the use of our voids before going out to the external market
  • To assist in ensuring the block booked placement sheet is kept up to date
  • To provide support, advice and information to social workers and managers as and when necessary
  • To attend meetings with internal staff as and when requested and invited to do so on case specific matters
  • To maintain systems to record and manage brokerage activity.
  • To liaise with providers regarding service provision and vacancy information.
  • Challenging providers where obligations under the contract have not been fulfilled
  • To ensure Data Protection, GDPR and Freedom of Information Act procedures are adhered to and that all files and personal information is held securely.
  • To support the brokerage team with claiming back savings
  • To support the brokerage team to source placements as and when required
  • To build relationships with key external contacts to ensure better quality and service provision from providers
  • To be smart and presentable at all times in compliance with the current dress code.
