Worcestershire County Council – Communications Coordinator

Location: County Hall, Worcester, WR5 2NP

Contract: Initial contract to 6th May 2021 with possible further extension.

Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:00pm (35 Hours a Week)

Payrate: £12.95 an Hour

Job Purpose:

To work effectively as a member of the Content and Communications team to deliver the corporate communication priorities of the Council.

To develop strong working relationships across the council and senior members.

To develop positive media relationships with local, regional and national media.

To ensure maximum positive coverage for the County Council in the media.

To showcase the Council's work through the production of visual content

To develop Worcestershire's online profile across social media and digital channels

To work with partner organisations such as Worcestershire LEP, Herefordshire and

Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and neighbouring district councils.

To assist with the co-ordination of events and associated publicity

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To create and deliver communication materials, including press releases, graphics and social media content to support the delivery of the Council's corporate communication priorities and to raise the profile of Worcestershire.

Develop effective relationships with the media and trade press and become a trusted source of stories for them.

Regularly originate creative ideas that contribute to the effective delivery of the council's corporate communication priorities.

To receive media enquiries, research and investigate facts, and co-ordinate the Council’s response in a prompt and accurate manner.

Provide reports on request evaluate the effectiveness of content campaigns.

Develop effective relationships with other key partners inside and outside of WCC.

Support the successful delivery of events and networking opportunities in line with the council's corporate communication priorities.

When required to do so, work with external agencies and consultants to deliver compelling content and campaigns.

Develop strong relationships with officers at all levels of the Council, with Cabinet Members, Members and valued partners.

Contribute to a working environment where ideas and innovations are encouraged.

Undertake continual professional development to ensure new media and marketing techniques are applied, as appropriate, in the designated directorate / service area.

Undertake any other duties as may be required by the Senior Press Officer or the Senior
