Blackpool Council - Family Hub Coordinator

Location: Blackpool, FY1 3JW

Contract: Initial 3 Month Contract

Hours: 37 Hours a Week Total / Mix of shift times, mornings, days and lates

Payrate: £15 an Hour

JOB PURPOSE

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary Family Hub team to develop the use of the Hub and surrounding outreach venues, to ensure that the right services are available when and where the community need them.

To ensure that quality driven, outcome informed and evidence-based services are delivered to children, young people, families and local residents resulting in improved outcomes and which are cost effective

Main Responsibilities

To support the Family Hub Manager to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

To quality assure services, using methods such as live supervision and observations, to ensure they are of a high standard including planning, delivery and evaluation.

To lead on involving parents in their children’s learning and the tracking of children’s progress and support the development of high-quality play services for young people in the locality.

To work with partners at Level 2, 3 and 4 to ensure families with additional needs are accessing and engaged in Family Hub services.

To lead on the Early Help assessment and support staff and partners to hold and review Early Help Assessments.

As a Safeguarding officer; work in conjunction with other safeguarding officers and ensure necessary steps are taken to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, maintaining an effective safeguarding policy and procedure that is implemented.

To deliver a range of programmes targeted at vulnerable families and residents across all levels of need including evidence-based approaches.

To work with Better Start to embed services.

To deputise for other Coordinators in their absence, (within agreed boundaries, as stipulated by the Family Hub Manager).

To oversee and ensure the service delivery is of good quality and fully compliant with the Ofsted regulations and take a lead in ensuring Early Years activities are of good quality.

Act in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures, including OFSTED and Health and Safety regulations.

In collaboration with the Hub Manager and Service Manager, support the development and evaluation of new services/ activities which meet the needs of sections of the local community, particularly minority groups, transient families and families with special needs.

To line manage all appropriate staff, students and volunteers and to ensure that they all receive regular, 1:1s, safeguarding supervision and IPAs.

To lead on the Childcare Partners Scheme for the Family Hub. Building and maintaining links with the private and voluntary childcare settings in the Reach Area.

Working with private and voluntary childcare settings to ensure target families (e.g. those eligible for the 2-year grant) have access to childcare. 

To support private and voluntary childcare settings in the locality by sharing resources and expertise e.g. weekly Childminder Drop In.

Work with providers to secure appropriate provision where parents are accessing learning to ensure childcare is not a barrier to learning.
