Somerset County Council - Adults Social Care Worker

We are currently seeking a Adult Social Care Worker to work within Adult Services in Hendford Care Home.  4Social Work is looking for talented and passionate Social Care Workers to work with our clients in a care home based in Somerset.  

Job Description:

The post holder is a member of the care team. Working within your team you will offer person centred care to support independence and to meet the individual needs of the Service Users.

Key Tasks

1.The Company induction will give you the skills and knowledge to understand your role.

2.You will provide personal care such as washing, bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting assistance to the Service Users and will undertake manual handling duties as required.

3.You will undertake practical duties where necessary including: cleaning, laundry and you will help to maintain the Service Users social and occupational skills e.g. letter writing, serving meals, folding clothes, and laying tables.

4.You will undertake social and other duties, which include shopping, care of clothing, and assisting with family and social contacts.

5.You will work with the Activities Co-ordinator to encourage the Service Users to take part in organised activities and one to one support.

6.You will be guided by your Supervisor to undertake the key worker role, which involves building a special relationship with the Service Users and developing extended relationships with their families and friends.

7.You will access and update confidential records using a computer on a daily bases. You may also be required to use technology to support Customers in order to improve health and well-being in order to maintain contact with family and friends e.g. Skype, YouTube, Internet etc.

8. You will maintain necessary records such as Service Users care plans, and contribute to reviews of customers' needs as directed.

9.You will attend meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required.

10.You will work in line with the policy on Infection Prevention and Control, according to your role.

Night Care Assistant only

You will be expected to stay awake and not leave the building when you are on duty.

General

1.The Company Induction will give you the skills and knowledge to understand your role.

2.You will attend regular review meetings, annual appraisals, team meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required.

3.You will be required to attend training in order to maintain daily electronic health care records and social care needs (i.e. computer, email, Skype etc.)

Essential Requirements (Education, Training & Qualifications)

-You will be required to undertake relevant qualifications

-Be flexible in order to attend training courses

-Basic literacy skills (to be able to produce and read care plans, and to complete running daily records)

-Prepared to undertake basic IT training
