Highway Design Engineer

Highway Maintenance Design Technician/Engineer - Wakefield

Monday to Friday, 8am till 5pm

Duration- Up to 12 months, with possible extension.

Rate - £35 - £40ph via umbrella

Wakefield Council is looking for an experienced Highway Maintenance Design technician or engineer to deliver a package of highway authority structural maintenance schemes.

The successful candidate will have experience of assessing the condition of carriageways and footways to enable cost effective maintenance schemes to be produced.

The selection of suitable maintenance treatments in accordance with the Council's Highways Asset Management Plan and lifecycle planning principles is a key element of the role. 

Knowledge of relevant materials and the ability to determine appropriate scheme specifications and construction methods associated with highway / pavement design and delivery are essential criteria.

The ability to produce scheme drawings using computer aided design methods and produce accurate and thorough cost estimates is essential.

Candidates must be able to drive although a vehicle can be provided to get to site.

The ideal Technician or Engineer will deliver this package of works.  We are not looking for someone to project manage but to identify, design and deliver highway maintenance schemes across the Wakefield District area.

Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL - Drivers License 

ESSENTIAL - BTEC/ONC in Civil Engineering or extensive relevant experience in Highways Maintenance and Construction works

ESSENTIAL - EDCL or other recognised ICT qualification

DESIRABLE - BTEC/HNC/D in Civil Engineering.

DESIRABLE - Membership of the IHIE
