Housing Officer – Dunstable (Temp Vacancy)

Umbrella Pay Rate: £30.00ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Job Purpose:

An experienced Housing Options Officer is required with a minimum of 6 months.

Acting as a single point of contact for triaging, assessing, and providing mediation to prevent homelessness where possible and specifically focus on coordinating the response to Ukraine households where sponsorship accommodation is either unsuitable or where relationships have broken down.

In addition to this, the candidate will be responsible for assessing homeless applications in accordance with the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and Part VII Housing Act 1996. A suitable candidate will be able to take a holistic and person -centred approach to providing comprehensive housing advice to prevent and alleviate homelessness.

Candidates will need to be able to assess homeless applications under the legislation, make homelessness inquiries and produce quality personalised housing plans and issue s184 homeless decisions. Candidates will need to demonstrate proven evidence of working for a local authority in a Housing Options Team.

Central Bedfordshire is a large council area and any candidate would need to be able to travel across the area if required. Experience of using housing Locata/jigsaw is desirable not essential. ****candidate will predominately be working from home however is required to provide office cover according to business needs***
