Job Description

4Recruitment Services are seeking a Housing Support Worker for our client who runs a Supported Housing Scheme based in Ashford, Kent.

The post is to  provide support and accommodation to vulnerable homeless adults aged 18 and over, with complex support needs, e.g., mental health, substance misuse, trauma, who are rough sleeping, homeless, at risk of homelessness or impacted by homelessness.

The team approach with cover the services in the Kent Homeless Connect pathway within a district and will include pre-tenancy relationship building with potential clients referred from the outreach team, accommodated clients and those referred in to the floating support service.

Please note this role will involve shift work, including some weekend. It will be a mixture of shifts; early shifts will be 07:00 – 15:00 and late shifts will be 14:00 – 22:00

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support customers to access services within the community and lead a healthier, more independent life (e.g. Doctors, drug/alcohol services, training and education etc.)
  • Work with them to identify what their skills, passions and interests are and how we can make the most of these to increase their independence
  • Explore move-on accommodation options with them, developing a resettlement plan from day one.
  • Develop a support plan with customers that makes the most of their strengths, sets out aspirations and enables us to best support them to be achieved

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable client groups.
  • Experience of delivering structured support in either housing or social care.
  • An understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable and diverse customer groups and individuals with complex needs. 
  • Demonstrate initiative and confidence to make and act on decisions.
  • Competent administrative and IT skills (to be able to produce reports and other communications). 
  • Enhanced DBS
