Job Description
Thurrock Council – HR Advisor
Location: Civic Office, New Road, Grays, Essex, RM17 6SL
Contract: Initial six-month contract with possible further extension.
Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:30pm (37 Hours a Week Total)
Payrate: £18.00 an Hour
Description:
Will be working specifically on a project focused on reward, not a generalist HR Advisor role. Starting asap for 6 months.
Responsibilities will include regular liaison with the Trade Unions regarding project updates and individual impact,
formal consultation negotiations, 1:1’s with individual staff affected, assisting with written communications to individuals impacted.
Skills needed: negotiation skills, experience of consultations, able to build and manage relationships with Trade Unions.
Key corporate accountabilities
To work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives/targets.
To participate in One-to-One Performance Development Reviews/Appraisals and contribute to the identification of your own and team development needs.
To actively promote the Council's Equal Opportunity Policy and Diversity Strategy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place.
To ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc., the Council's Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work.
To fully understand and be aware of the commitment to Section 17 of the ‘Duty of Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to prevent crime and disorder’.
Key service-related accountabilities
To assist in the delivery of the Modernising Reward Project in line with the agreed design principles.
To produce staff communications under direction of project lead, tracking responses and escalating to relevant HRBP where necessary.
To act as a focal point for staff consultation and respond to staff queries in a timely, appropriate and helpful manner.
To ensure record keeping is accurate and complete.
To support the consultation and negotiation arrangements with the trade unions to ensure engagement in the Modernising Reward project.
To coordinate key elements of the project as defined within the project plan.
To assist with the delivery of staff consultations in line with the outcomes of the project.
To ensure that key data, statistical information and reports are delivered as required.
Any other duties as may be required.
