Independent Living Brokerage and Support Officer

Full time

    Duties:

  • To be responsible for assisting Service Users and Carers in the development of a detailed support plan. This will include providing comprehensive advice and guidance, undertaking research around local community services and networks, costing the plan, and producing the actual plan which must relate to the persons identified outcomes. 
  • Provide specific and appropriate information, advice and guidance relating to the different options of managing the Personal Budget, which are available to the Service User/Carer, supporting people to maximise independence, choice and control and thus increasing the uptake of direct payments.
  • Responsibility for delivering an integrated approach by supporting people to maximise funding from other funding streams  for which they may be deemed eligible and developing complex plans across multiple funding streams.
  • Liaise, negotiate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including Staff, External providers, Service Users, Carers, Personal Assistants and employment Law specialists to ensure lawful recruitment and employment/employer responsibilities.
  • Undertake administrative duties whilst dealing with interruptions, queries and conflicting demands arising from Service User/Customer queries and requests.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as requested by management

Requirements:

  • Significant experience of providing advice, support and guidance.
  • Experience of researching, collating and analysing data and providing written and verbal reports of findings.
  • Proven experience of working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience of working within a financial environment
  • Experience of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of working within a Social Care environment
  • Experience of working to  and meeting strict deadlines
