IT Technical Support Officer – Malton (Temp Vacancy)

Umbrella Pay Rate: £18.00ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Job Purpose:

  • Day-to-day efficient operation of the HelpDesk
  • Providing support and advice to users through the production of relevant guides, FAQs and basic training
  • Supporting the inventory management, license management and procurement requirements of the IT service
  • Maintaining the Council’s IT Infrastructure and end-user devices in-line with operational requirements, Council IT security policies and PSN/GDPR requirements
  • Providing technical input into projects
  • Embedding ITIL standards in all aspects of the department’s activities

Accountabilities:  

  • Providing technical support to end-users via the HelpDesk, including prompt resolution of a wide range of issues
  • The implementation, maintenance and development of the Council’s IT infrastructure and system security
  • Promoting and facilitating efficient use and development of technology and digital equipment across the Council
  • Advising on/contributing to the implementation of new technologies, taking account of Ryedale District Council’s IT architecture as a whole
  • Working with Business Transformation Team and other colleagues on project work to digitize, streamline and improve Council processes
  • Provision of first and second-line technical support and administration for all existing systems/applications within the Council and remote sites, with minimum supervision
  • Providing basic training to end-users to enable them to get the best from ICT equipment and software
  • Triaging issues that cannot be solved internally to the appropriate external resource for resolution, and managing issues through to successful resolution
  • Using service and performance-tracking software to ensure that requests for service are properly logged and followed through to conclusion
  • Installation configuration, testing, maintenance and support for desktop hardware, mobile devices, printers, software applications and network equipment to the agreed standard
  • Contributing to the support and maintenance of all aspects of the Council’s IT infrastructure, LAN and WAN in-line, with the Council IT security policy and PSN / GDPR requirements
  • Contributing to the technical aspects of the IT Disaster Recovery plan and supporting regular testing of the plan to ensure the successful recovery of ICT systems in a disaster recovery scenario
  • Advanced network troubleshooting including checking connectivity of devices and related network settings
  • Liaising with third parties to support internal services or networked PC hardware.  This includes managing the repair/support and following it through to an acceptable conclusion for the customer.
  • Providing audio-visual equipment support for all Council events, including support for the voting system and the audio recording of Council committees
  • Management and configuration of the telephony systems in conjunction with any external suppliers
  • Managing and updating the door access control system
  • Writing and maintaining professional system documentation
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of technical projects
