Licensing support officer -Bath and North East Somerset Council

Address: Keynsham Civic centre, Bristol

Contract:  initial 3-month contract with possible further extension

Hours: 37Hours

Pay: £11.27per hour (depending on experience)

The primary purpose of the role is to:

This role is required to support a licensing application renewal process involving approximately 600 licensed drivers where right to work checks need to be carried out with individual drivers. These will predominantly be carried out remotely using Zoom or Teams. There maybe other related administration work related to this.

The primary purpose of this post is to be the first point of contact for the Licensing Service, receiving enquiries, applications and payments, whilst providing a comprehensive, effective, professional, high quality and customer focused service in accordance with the corporate objectives and values of the Council.  Work will be unsupervised for much of the time, accessing and assessing information independently. The successful delivery of this role will achieve improved service delivery, performance and productivity and contribute to the Council’s vision for the area and the organisation.

As a key support to the management team this role will assist in the development of the service enabling it to become more flexible, willing to change and adopt new ways of working. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement that is customer focused efficient and effective.

With the Lead Officer, be responsible for the receipt and processing of applications for licences, permits, consents and registrations within statutory timescales which are submitted to the Licensing Service.

Prioritise, evaluate, research and manage enquiries from licensees, licensing agents and the public taking each situation on its own merits and resolving people’s concerns at the initial contact.  Where this is not possible, follow up specific concerns with other members of staff or other services within the Council to ensure successful resolution.

Be responsible for providing accurate, meaningful and consistent information, guidance and advice to customers about the licensing processes they should follow, ensuring compliance with current legislation, statutory guidance and Council policies.

With the Lead Officer, be responsible for liaising directly with other Council teams to verify information and resolve issues to ensure the effective and timely processing of licence applications, permits, consents and registrations within statutory timescales.
