Manchester – Information Governance Manager

Location: TALBOT ROAD, MANCHESTER, M32 0TH

Contract: six-month contract with further extensions

Hours: Full Time – Monday – Friday

Payrate: £21.50 an hour

Description:

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Trafford Borough Council for an experienced Information Governance Manager.

This is a key role within the Council and the successful candidate will be responsible for the Information Governance team, which covers areas including Data incidents, Subject Access Requests,

FOI, policy writing and advising on all aspects of Data Protection, Confidentiality and Information Security in order to support compliance with legislation and best practice.

The post holder will also work closely with colleagues in the IT Department and as Information Governance Manager, you will be responsible for the co-ordination of the Council’s annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission.

In this role the post holder will act as the Council’s Data Protection Officer.

In addition, a key component of the role will include the formulation, implementation and monitoring of Information Governance projects and training to ensure the Council is up to date.

Reporting to the Governance Manager, you will be joining a friendly, motivated and change focused information Governance team, with a focus on driving and delivering improvements across the service and Council.

About you:

You will

Be a highly motived individual who can work autonomously and within a team

Have significant experience in delivering information governance in a public sector setting

Have experience of leading an IG Team

Be change focused and willing to contribute to the evolution and development of the team, bringing your own ideas and enthusiasm to the role

Be an excellent communicator who can engage well with stakeholders, forming effective working relationships and be able to resolve conflicts if they arise.

You will have experience of working with Senior Council Officers and be able to analyse, discuss and offer resolutions to complex issues.
