Marie Curie - Volunteer Centre Officer

Location: Marie Curie, Pontypool, NP4 0HZ

Contract: Initial three-month contract

Hours: 9:00am-5:00pm / Monday to Friday / Full Time 35 Hours a Week

Payrate: £10.50 an Hour

 MAIN PURPOSE(S) OF THE JOB:

To be part of a team at the Marie Curie Volunteer Centre based in Pontypool. You will contribute to delivering a high quality, professional recruitment process for regular volunteers across the whole of the UK

and will help Marie Curie achieve a big step up in the number of regular volunteers in roles across the charity. You will help the Volunteer Centre deliver an excellent customer experience for both potential volunteers and local managers with volunteer vacancies.

Duties & Responsibilities

As part of the Volunteer Centre team, deliver a comprehensive volunteer recruitment and management service for Marie Curie, working to achieve organisational targets and objectives. 

Provide an excellent customer experience to both volunteers, potential volunteers and staff.

Receive enquiries from potential volunteers, handling enquiries over the phone and in writing in a professional, efficient, prompt, constructive and engaging way that drives growth in conversion from enquiries to volunteers starting.

Discuss volunteering opportunities with local managers across the UK and ensure the opportunities are appropriately promoted on Do It and other advertising platforms

Process volunteer registration forms, ensuring data is accurately recorded on the charity's database and handled in accordance with the charity’s policies such as data protection.

Request references for volunteers and handle returned references, checking for suitability

Handle sensitive documentation such as Disclosure/DBS, driver documents, certificates of insurance and qualifications, notes for volunteer's personal files, ensuring documentation is appropriately recorded and stored and compliance with relevant policies is checked.

Assist local managers of volunteers by providing them with reports on their volunteer workforce, such as need for DBS update or length of volunteer service

Operate a continuous improvement approach supporting the Volunteering Centre Manager in seeking improvements in the experience delivered to volunteers and colleagues,

and seeking to achieve greater efficiencies that will enable a greater level of volunteer recruitment to be handled within existing resources

Assist 2 National Volunteering Managers and a Volunteer Development Manager who will be working with the charity's staff across the UK to identify new volunteer roles, by assisting with recruiting appropriate volunteers.

Using the database to deliver mass communications to volunteers across the charity as directed by the Volunteer Centre Manager.
