Job Description

Mechanical Project Engineer Required 

Monday to Friday, 8am till 5pm

3 months minimum

Paying up to £27ph ltd via umbrella.

MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A DBS

Job Purpose:
To oversee the contract for delivery of a full range of gas and mechanical engineering services (including, but not exclusively; domestic heating and hot water service, non domestic heating and hot water services, cold water systems, boosted water systems, water storage cisterns and ventilation systems) including major works as required to maintain housing stock, meeting statutory and corporate requirements, stakeholder priorities and best practice.

Key Accountabilities:

To fully contribute to the work of the team in maintaining and improving the Borough’s housing stock within a framework of improving quality and cost effectiveness.

To Provide gas or mechanical engineering services to deliver functions in accordance with the contractual and performance framework and corporate governance structures, including delivery of cyclical maintenance work and delivery of major works as required. 

To work in and develop our existing partnership with THH appointed contractors and to manage contractors including:

provide specifications for works or scheme designs required to repair/maintain housing stock;

supervise contractors for repair/maintenance and major works on site, monitor and report on progress;

monitor the performance of contractors to ensure that works are completed in accordance with client requirements, through site meetings, site visits and supervision of works in progress;

carry out pre and post inspections, recommend remedial and additional work, as well as providing quality assurance, process variations;

ensure full consultation and engagement with internal and external customer takes place before, during and after work as required.

Essential Criteria

Experience of providing expert advice on mechanical related matters;

Experience of supervising contractors for repair/maintenance and major works;

Experience of designing schemes and preparing drawings, specifications, contract and tender documentation;

Experience of carrying out site visits, pre and post inspections, attending site meetings, providing cost break downs on completion/commencement of major work schemes.

Experience of carrying out site surveys with a variety of access and measuring equipment.

Education

Professionally recognised mechanical engineering or mechanical qualification e.g. City & Guilds, or extensive equivalent demonstrable experience.
