NCC Supervising social worker - Fostering Team

Specialist Foster Carers’ Scheme is for carers who provide long-term family based placements to children aged between 10 and 18 years old who have more complex needs. The young people placed with these carers would normally require a higher than usual level of support as they may be difficult to place due to either vulnerable or have complex behaviours.

You would be responsible for the recruitment, assessment, as well as support and supervision of these Carers. You will be helping to ensure the additional package of support offered to the young people and their carers is provided  and developed.

 This group of foster carers will require higher levels of supervision than other foster carers. The role involves you being part of a multi-agency approach which includes residential homes, therapeutic and education sectors.

You will be managing cases varying in complexity, assessing levels of risk and foster carers’ capacity to offer safer care for the young person. You will be monitoring the placement and reviewing situations in order to promote good outcomes for the child in care.

You would receive regular supervision and support, and be involved in the steering and developing of this Scheme.
