Rochdale Council - Personal Assistants STARS

Location: Number One Riverside, Rochdale, OL16 1XU

Contract: Initial 4 Week contract with possible further extension.

Hours: 24/7 Shift Patterns for the full week (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am)

Payrate: £11.27 an Hour

Description:

We require a bank of 5 agency staff with comparable skills to our Stars Personal assistants to be deployed by the council over the winter period in a range of settings for an initial four-week period.

The five staff would be expected to work on an 8-hour shift rota.

Indicative rota attached and therefore all candidates must be prepared to be available to cover as required 24/7 shift 7 day a week work pattern and be prepared to work across a number of settings for example residential,

supported living and home care in the borough of Rochdale.

Principal Duties

To develop and maintain a professional and supportive relationship with service user and their families/carers to ensure their individual needs are being met.

To undertake tasks as detailed and prescribed in a service users care/support plan.

To support and encourage service users to participate in meaningful activities, new experiences and opportunities which will meet their individual needs and achieve social inclusion.

To keep accurate daily records as required.

To be responsible for providing physical and personal care to service users taking into account their basic and acute emotional needs.

To administer medication (as prescribed by the medical practitioner) in accordance with Service policies and guidelines

To adopt a flexible approach to the hours worked in accordance with the needs of the service user and the organisation.

Principal Duties (STARS specific)

To be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment whilst on duty, to deal with accidents, illness and emergencies in accordance with service policies/procedures and guidelines.

Secondary Duties

To attend regular staff meetings and, other relevant meetings as and when required.

To maintain a working knowledge of routine fire safety, health and safety, and medication procedures.

To participate in training courses as required.

To provide appropriate cover for other colleagues across the service during holidays, sickness or training.

To assist service users in travelling when necessary.

To undertake duties of a domestic nature to ensure the care and comfort of service users.

To participate in planned supervision and personal development reviews.

To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Service Director

(or nominated representative) in consultation with the post holder (and if he/she so wishes with his/her Trade Union representative).
