Planning Compliance Officer – Tower Hamlets (Temp Vacancy)

Umbrella Pay Rate: £28.00ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Job Purpose:

Provide specialised, high quality technical advice, and expertise on complex planning compliance and enforcement matters, using own initiative and with limited supervision from the Team Manager or Principal.

Undertake investigations of breaches of planning control including site surveys, photographic evidence and the obtaining of evidence of fact from witnesses, including under caution.

Undertake site visits to check compliance with plans and collect evidence relating to alleged breaches of planning control, organising the attendance of any relevant third parties, if needed

Prepare recommendations to the Team Manager or Principal, for appropriate course of action to remedy any breaches of planning control in order to improve the quality of development and the built environment in the borough.

Initiate Planning Enforcement action under the direction of the Team Manager or Principal, including all necessary legal checks, preparing and serving formal notices, liaising with planning officers and legal officers and preparing instructions for Direct Action.

Manage a number of complex planning compliance cases, planning applications and projects simultaneously, responding quickly to changed circumstances and balancing often conflicting priorities under pressure.
