Job Description

Fire Safety Project Manager

To manage a programme to design, manufacture and install wayfinding signage for fire-fighters, to meet forthcoming fire safety regulations, ensuring that aesthetic requirements of residents and senior stakeholders within the Council are satisfied.

Monday to Friday, 8am till 4pm.

Paying £32ph via umbrella

6 months with possibility for extensions.

To manage a programme to design, manufacture and install wayfinding signage for fire-fighters, to meet forthcoming fire safety regulations, ensuring that aesthetic requirements of residents and senior stakeholders within the Council are satisfied.

 1.Engaging with residents on an estate-by-estate basis, to co-design wayfinding signs (floor level and flat number / orientation) that meet the recommendations set out in B5 of Approved Document B Volume 1 whilst satisfying resident expectations for aesthetics.

2.Managing communications, engaging with Communications Team colleagues, to ensure that as wide a group of residents is engaged with on each estate to co-design signage.

Setting up and chairing meetings with residents.

Agreeing designs and scopes for wayfinding signage.

Dealing with the procurement of estate-specific wayfinding signage, including ensuring all financial regulations are complied with.

Procuring contracts to manufacture signs to agreed designs.

Designing and specifying agreed signs, setting out clear instructions to designers to ensure regulatory requirements are met and designs are delivered as agreed with residents.

Ensuring that appropriate contractors are appointed and managed to install signs on site.

Managing any procurement requirements in respect of appointing contractors, in line with financial policies and regulations.

Project managing the installation of signs in each relevant building, including discharging client duties under CDM Regulations, reviewing RAMS, etc.

Programme management of the multi-site project, ensuring timescales and key performance indicators are set, monitored, reported on and delivered.

Cost management in ensuring works are budgeted, agreed and delivered in line with estimates.

Quality management of the programme, including site inspections and checks to ensure compliant delivery of each individual project.

Signing-off works in collaboration with residents.

Essential Qualifications:

Relevant professional qualification (e.g. RICS) or qualified by experience

Qualification in Project Management (e.g. APM or equivalent)

Experience & Knowledge (Essential):

Experience of working with residents and other stakeholders to co-design and deliver projects.

Experience of contract management and procurement.

Operational experience within public sector housing or similar environment carrying out major works schemes.

Experience of working with leaseholders and tenants and agreeing work scopes and supporting data to enable leasehold consultation to take place

Experience of managing budgets for individual projects and annual programmes of work
