Job Description

Repairs and Maintrnance Officer Required - Sheffield

Monday to Friday, 8am till 5pm

Duration - On-going

Rate - £17/£18.50

The use of a vehicle is essential and mileage rates will be paid.

Purpose:

To provide a professional and technical advice service on repairs and maintenance and support others within the Council Housing Service.

To undertake Building Surveying, prepare work schedules and designs

To undertake the role of contract administration appropriate to the grade of the job

To effectively liaise between those involved in delivering all aspects of the investment service deliver best value and excellent customer service.

Specific Duties & Responsibilties:

Visit clients in their own homes and elsewhere to carry out general surveying, contract administrative duties and assess what improvements may be required to a property.

Undertake inspections and surveys, prepare, produce and present technical and non- technical reports and designs including the making of recommendations and remedial actions.

Undertake appraisals of repair options where major work is required to ensure value for money and compliance with health and safety

Batch communal repairs to ensure best value is achieved.

Monitoring and management of identified budgets including providing cost estimates when required.

Provide information and reports for section 20 notices to leaseholders.

Management of disrepair cases provide report/information for legal services.

Produce written scope of works and specifications as required.

Provide direction to Repairs Support Officers with complex repair problems, high value work and multi jobs.

Tenancy management:

Assist housing Plus officers on repairs related issues as required  to ensure a seamless service for customers

Ensure that the repairs policies are followed and manage the expectations of customers with regards to works in their property.

Agree and plan appropriate repairs appointment times and ensure that customers are kept informed of any changes.

Recognise where there is a vulnerability issues and liaise with other teams and agencies to support the customer. 

Deal with maintenance related permission requests, agree requests and sign off work when completed

Provide advice to customers and collate information and evidence relating to rechargeable repairs and the associated invoicing process. 

Raise commissions with Capital Delivery Service to seek specialist advice on complex technical issues.

Prepare and submit planning and building control applications

Requirments

3+ years experience within a similar roll

An appropriate trade qualification, such as City and Guilds or ONC in a related building construction / surveying subject together with significant practical experience in a building construction environment.

Drivers license

A Full JD is available upon request.
