Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist - Adult Services to work with one of our clients based in Dudley. You will be working for the council.

Monday - Friday 

Shift Times may vary

Temp contract 

Pay rates up to £22ph 

Key Responsibilites

  • Deliver specialist moving & handling risk assessment of service users in their own homes where they have social care packages involving two carers for transfers
  • Deliver specialist moving & handling risk assessment of patients in receipt of care packages involving two carers that are funded by NHS Continuing Healthcare
  • Undertake specialist moving & handling risk assessment of residents in care homes or supported living environments where there are complex moving & handling issues and make necessary recommendations 
  • Work across the People & Communities Directorate to undertake assessments of all service user groups – older people, people under 65 with physical disability, people with learning disability who may also have complex moving and handling needs, and children, including those in transition, who may have complex moving & handling needs OT
  • Utilise professional expertise to identify and recommend appropriate assistive equipment for service users to promote the provision of single handed care packages whenever possible
  • Work in ways which are sensitive to, and appropriate for, the needs of service users and their families from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds. This requires the use of fine judgements within risk assessments that respect individual’s needs and desires 
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of service users, including being able to undertake assessments outside ‘normal working hours’ eg early morning or late evening visits when the care staff are undertaking moving & handling and personal care tasks so that these can be directly observed and assessed
  • Ensure that service users, their families and other agencies are communicated with effectively and provided with the necessary information regarding any changes to their moving & handling needs and plans for any changes to care plans or other interventions
