Senior Occupational Therapist- Children's Services- East London

Are you a passionate, dedicated, Experienced Occupational Therapist looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting OT’s to work with a Children & young people Services in and around East London.

Pay Rate: £25.68-£32.00 per hour, Flexible working opportunities can be considered. You will be based in schools and Child Development Centre. You will be set up with an agile device for smart working.

What you will be doing:

  • We are looking for a children’s Occupational Therapist to join our team in providing a high standard of Occupational Therapy service to children and young people in East London & Essex Borders.

  • You will be required to independently manage a caseload of children between the ages of 0 – 18yrs, including those presenting with complex needs and disabilities.

  • You will be working in the context of a multi-disciplinary team in school settings and in The Grove, where our Child Development Centre is co-located with CAMHS.

  • You will have a mixed caseload of working in mainstream and designated special schools and will be responsible to assess and advice on requirements as part of the EHC process.

  • You will provide advice, treatment, and management in order to address the children and family’s needs, based on sound clinical reasoning.

  • You will also support in the development of training packages to school staff / parents / other professionals as required, for them to identify concerns regarding the child /young person’s needs and implement therapy advice effectively.

  • You will be joining an integrated OT and Physiotherapy team and will receive monthly supervision and CPD sessions.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration  
  • Excellent knowledge, skills, and experience with assessing for and making recommendations for children with developmental and disability needs.
  • Experience with working in a multi professional team and undertaking Occupational Therapy assessments on child and family-based principles, setting goals collaboratively with child and family within home or school context, assess and review OT as part of current EHC Plan in mainstream as well as special schools.
  • Understanding of the legal SEND reforms and SEN code of practice and what it means for Health.
  • Experienced with managing, planning, prioritising, and progressing school-based caseload as part of EHCP assessment and intervention process.
  • Experience and knowledge of assessing for developmental and school-based level difficulties and skills, assessing for Occupational Therapy needs as part of Educational Health and Care assessment and on-going intervention, recommending simple and complex equipment in school settings as required, reviewing their effectiveness, and teaching safe use of key therapeutic skills using an occupational coaching framework, and to comply with relevant legislation, policy and guidelines on SEND reforms. Excellent knowledge and skills in children's occupational therapy, with both community and school-based interventions. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise and plan own workload. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting.
