Senior Practitioner – Southend-on-Sea

Salary: 32ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Southend Council are looking for a locum Senior Practitioner to support Social Workers and Advanced Practitioners within the MASH team, to progress and respond to enquiries and contacts from a variety of sources quickly and efficiently as per policy and procedures.

Lead Social Workers and Advanced Practitioners by ensuring that they act as a filter to inappropriate contacts, provide appropriate guidance and signpost to a more suitable resource where social care threshold is not met, and that contacts which are not accepted by Social Care are discussed with the relevant support services to identify the best resource and according to thresholds. Use advanced professional knowledge, skills and associated policies and guidance. Use initiative to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding in accordance with Southend Children’s Services threshold document and Southend Essex Thurrock Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this position you must be a Qualified Social Worker and be registered with Social Work England.

Have post qualifying experience of working within a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub+ and / or Referral and Assessment setting. Prior experience of working as a Manager / other relevant experience/transferable skills around supervising/mentoring others, leadership; development of specialist knowledge/skills in a social work setting. Experience in actively manage representations and complaints and refer to appropriate level if unable to resolve. Experience to provide a safe, calm and well-ordered environment for all staff. An excellent knowledge and clear understanding of all relevant current legislation, child protection policies and guidance, including other related up to date research/ practice.
