Worcestershire County Council – Senior Project Manager / Programme Portfolio Lead
Location: County Hall, Worcester, WR5 2NP
Contract: Initial contract role to 12th March 2021 with possible extension.
Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:00pm
Payrate: £22.20 an Hour
Description:
Worcestershire County Council are looking for highly self-motivated and experienced professional Project Managers to join our busy Transformation and Change Team on a temporary basis.
The Project Managers will support the county wide COVID-19 response programme, delivering a wide range of specific and fast paced outcomes across Adult Services, Public Health, and Commercial & Change Directorates, as well as Worcestershire Children First.
The role will require close working with partner organisations, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and ensuring the effective delivery of rapid results.
Main activities & Responsibilities:
To direct and lead on major programmes and projects (internal and external), including advising Directors and Members on the strategic direction to ensure the project or programme of work is successfully
delivered within agreed timescales and resources and makes a positive contribution to the Corporate Strategy
To deliver programme and projects to time, cost and quality using recognised project management techniques
To establish and deliver robust project management procedures and processes within the overall project to ensure that all individual aspects are planned, coordinated and monitored appropriately
To advise upon areas for improvement to the process to ensure the team is constantly working in the most efficient and beneficial way
To take overall responsibility to ensure programmes and project are quality assured using agreed principles and processes
To develop and deliver stakeholder engagement and communication throughout the project or programme
To provide leadership, management, supervision and support to staff directly line managed and seconded to projects ensuring their continued personal and professional development, as appropriate
To ensure that all relevant legislation and procedures are observed e.g. Health and Safety, Equalities, GDPR etc
To attend training courses for staff development programmes relevant to professional growth as a manager, new statutes and departmental initiatives
To undertake such duties related to the work of the Council as may be assigned which are consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility
