Job Description

We are currently looking for a Qualified Social Worker – Permanence and Assessment and Intervention to work with one of our clients based in Wirral. You will be working for the council.

Key Responsibilites

  • Ensure, in liaison and negotiation with professional partners, the best possible outcomes for children, young people and families; 
  • Manage an allocated workload relating to children, young people and families within the Locality (excluding child protection and court work for those not holding a social work qualification);
  • Prepare for, and participate in, planned work relating to court and court orders effectively and within appropriate timescales (regulatory considerations require the lead professional/key worker to be social work qualified);
  • Contribute to the assessment process in accordance with timescales and local protocol as laid down;
  • Share responsibility for planned intervention and service provision; 
  • Take part in formal case reviews, including child protection conferences and core groups, and other planning meetings as necessary; 
  • Comply with the Directorate’s administrative and financial procedures including the maintenance of appropriate records; 
  • Make full use of IT and computer systems utilised by the Directorate as and when required;
  • Attend, and contribute fully to, the supervision process, Professional Development Appraisal (PDA), and to attend in-house and/or external training courses; 
  • Be aware of, and responsive to, the differing needs of all groups within the community;
  • Be responsible for continued self learning and an updated knowledge of legislation, guidance and research findings in the relevant fields of work with children, young people and families;
