Staffordshire County Council - Data Officer (G7) (Admin and Clerical)

Location: 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2LP.

Contract: Initial contract to 31st July 2022.

Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Payrate: £12.20 an Hour.

Description:

Required to join the Insight Team to provide additional data management capacity as we look to implement a new corporate Geographical Information System (GIS) across the county council to help shape strategy development and decision making.

With demonstratable experience of working in a data management and/or GIS environment.

The successful applicant will support with the transfer and manipulation of geographical datasets into a new cloud hosted database, enabling both internal users,

partners and members of the public to undertake data analysis and visualisation.

Key Accountabilities:

To have a thorough understanding of data management and its importance in supporting the production of high-quality insights.

To be responsible for undertaking relevant data management activities for straightforward datasets.

To support the Research and Development Manager and Data Lead in undertaking data management activities for complex datasets

To support the creation of accurate and appropriate documentation relating to data management

To be responsible for scheduling and undertaking maintenance for datasets as agreed.

To be responsible for handling and processing data exceptions.

To work with colleagues in the Insight Team to meet the needs and requirements of its customer.

To understand and keep up to date with the key datasets used by the Insight Team.

To keep up to date with best practice on data management, quality, standards, governance, behaviours and solutions, to support the implementation of any necessary improvements.

To support the Research and Development Manager to ensure that the data management processes adhere to legislative requirements, governance and relevant corporate policies.
