Wakefield Council - SHEQ COVID Project Officer

Location: Wakefield Council, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 2EB

Contract: Initial contract to 17th September 2021

Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:00pm

Payrate: £16.71 an Hour

Description:

Over the last twelve months the Council has been working to ensure that all buildings and operational activities within the Council are Covid Secure.

Work is now required to support the return of our services to a new normal and further ensure that all exiting measures are in place, developed and enhanced as part of the Governments and Councils Road Map to exit Covid restrictions.

The posts will assist with ensuring that all staff, buildings and our operations are prepared and ready for a return to work in terms of Health, Safety, Welfare and communications. 

The post will also assist in reviewing the Council overarching Health and safety Management and ensure it is fit for purpose moving forward.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review, investigate and report on all aspects of Covid-19 Secure across all locations.

Provision of advice and guidance to ensure and maintain Covid-19 secure locations.

Support in all aspects of Covid-19 vaccine and lateral flow testing – including the review of locations, risk assessments, safe systems with internal Teams and external providers.

Manager and monitor covid-19 employee positive case work.

Provide general advice on health and safety matters as well as specialist advice including such topics as radon, chemicals (COSHH) assessments, health surveillance related to noise and hand-arm vibration (HAVS).

Advise on fire safety and supporting the ENGIE Partnership regards fire safety management.

Advise on risk assessments and safe systems of work including specialist Covid-19 secure risk assessments.

Undertake pro-active monitoring of health and safety management arrangements.

Provision of written guidance documents including Policies, Procedures and risk assessments.

Provision of briefing and training within their competence.

Monitoring and investigation of accident and incidents, supporting in the defence of claims and providing appropriate help and advice in a timely manner.

Provision of statistical information on Covid-19 specific management.

Provision of statistical accidents, incidents, violent incidents and near misses data.

Attendance at meetings to promote and inform on all aspects of health, safety and welfare.

Liaison with regulatory bodies as deemed necessary.

Monitor, review and instigation of adequate training in all service areas in relation to Health and safety

Manage and maintain health and safety records in line with GDPR.

Help, advise and provide guidance regarding health and welfare work issues and medical restrictions that is within their capability and knowledge set.

Advise and support the Occupational Health Unit on health surveillance issues, including but not limited to HAVS; noise at work, driving.
