Job Description

West Sussex County Council – Risk Analyst – Fire & Rescue Service

Location: West Street, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1RG.

Contract: Initial five-month contract with possible further extension.

Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday – 9-5:30pm

Payrate: £15.33 an hour

Description:

The role sits with in a smaller team of F&RS and is focused on the Strategic and community risks.

The council is working on its integrated risk plan this will mean analysis and facilitating the strategic risks (Including but not limited to:

Organisational, Legal, Financial, Resourcing) and Community risks (Including but not limited to: Demographic of the area, Infrastructure, commercial, Covid).

This person will analyse these areas to build a risk plan and be comfortable presenting this to wider stakeholders.

They will also be comfortable with qualitive date to be able to see the bigger picture on these areas.

Key responsibilities

Analyse and interpret complex data and undertake quantitative, and where necessary qualitative, analysis using appropriate software - for example statistical software packages, spreadsheets and databases.

Working with relevant departments to analyse trends identified in Community Risk Data to inform the development of Local Risk Management Plans.

Assist with the research and development of risk data for the Integrated Risk Management Plan, utilising all sources of information of the present and future risks to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and those who live, work and visit West Sussex.  

Assist in identifying future threats and opportunities by local and national horizon scanning, contributing to Issue Log and Risk Register entries, submissions and risk assessments.

Contribute to development and maintenance of policy, procedure and methodology of the Risk Management Framework.

Design and administer research and data collection using the most effective and appropriate tools.  

Identify key findings and their implications for improving services over both the short and long term.  Report, present and disseminate results in appropriate formats to suit the needs of different audiences.

Assist the Risk Team in examining impact of change – for example, assess the impact of new housing developments on the service in terms of Operational Need, Risk to Community etc.

Assist in the development, and delivery of Organisational Risk Management courses.

Remain up to date with all relevant legislation including GDPR, systems and organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct, in order to uphold standards of best practice.

The specific accountabilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time in order to meet the needs of the Fire and Rescue Service, but accountabilities will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed above.
