The consultation, launched by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) in partnership with Skills for Care, will explore issues such as how to attract and recruit workers, improve retention, and ensure effective workforce planning.

Care minister, Caroline Dinenage, said: 'We know there are challenges - that's why we need to ensure the workforce is supported to enable the transformation needed to deliver the best quality of care into the future.

'I urge everyone involved in, or working in care, to take part in the consultation - this is your chance to help shape the future for the adult social care workforce.'

The responses will feed into a joint health and social care workforce strategy this summer and will inform the upcoming adult social care green paper.
