Floating Support Worker - Manchester 

Are you a passionate, dedicated Floating Support Worker looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Floating Support Worker to join a team based in Manchester. There are two positions available within the role – Intensive Support Workers and Support Workers – to be discussed at interview stage based on experience. 

Umbrella Rate: £14.24 per hour 

Duration: 19/02/2024 – 2 months initially

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7 hrs/day – Hybrid (expected to be office based 2x per week with 1 Duty shift per fortnight) 

Floating Support Worker role: Full JD Available

The intensive Support Workers will be working with Homeless Families and working on a case load of 20 – 25. They will work with the Family for 3 months and then deem them as high or low risk. The family will then be passed onto the Support Workers who will work with them for the full tenancy length. The Support Workers will have a case load of 40 families.

  • Act as a lead professional/key worker and work collaboratively with customers and agencies to assess the problems customers face and assist them to prioritise identified issues
  • Assess the needs of homeless applicants and from that assessment match the cases to an appropriate move on scheme, whether that be into supported accommodation, private rented tenancies, MCC in house accommodation or social housing through Manchester Move
  • Undertake lone working responsibilities making visits to clients staying in homeless B&Bs and Hotels throughout Manchester
  • Adopt an assertive, yet flexible and personalised approach when working with customers and their families to ensure they feel confident and comfortable to engage fully with services
  • Deal with safeguarding concerns and take the necessary steps
  • Identify, plan and deliver interventions jointly identified with the customer and household members with a focus on skills development, and behavioural change
  • Work collaboratively with a range of agencies/partners to coordinate support based on individual need, improve outcomes, promote independence and build resilience within households
  • Develop strong working relationships quickly, particularly with the different partner accommodation schemes we look to move homeless clients into
  • Maintain accurate, up to date records
  • Attend meetings, reviews and conferences where necessary

Essential Requirements

  • UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance
  • Experience within homelessness
  • Experience of dealing with clients presenting with complex needs such as recovering from drug and alcohol addition, serious offenders, mental health conditions
  • Experience dealing with safeguarding concerns and taking the necessary steps
  • Ability to undertake lone working responsibilities making visits to clients staying in homeless B&Bs and Hotels throughout Manchester
  • You Must Have Right to Live & Work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service
