Housing Allocations Officer – Loughborough (Temp Vacancy)

Umbrella Rate: £14.00ph

Full-Time (37 hours)

Job Purpose:

  • Select applicants for the allocation of Council properties and nomination to Housing Association properties under supervision of Principal Housing Officer (Assessment and Development). 
  • Assess and investigate Housing Register and Housing Transfer applications. 
  • Assist other Housing Officers as required with the assessment and investigation of homeless applications and ensure that Council policies are followed in the allocations process.  

Accountabilities:

  • Undertake the allocation of properties, in accordance with Council policies and procedures.         
  • Monitor progress of void properties, and liase with the Maintenance and Works Division to facilitate new tenancy arrangements at the earliest opportunity.          
  • Deal with day to day allocations, Housing Register and Housing Transfer enquiries from applicants and tenants and conduct interviews and home visits as required.  
  • Investigate and assess Housing Register and Housing transfer applications.
  • Carry out administrative procedures relating to the lettings process and produce statistical information on homelessness, allocations, voids etc.
  • Assist the other housing officers, as required , with the investigation of claims of homelessness, giving appropriate advice, undertaking associated case work and issuing written notification of decisions.          
  • Receive enquiries outside office hours and advise on the most appropriate course of action, as part of the overall housing management function.  
  • Assist other housing officers as required, with the allocation and management of temporary accommodation.
  • Deliver an effective and appropriate service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination.   
  • As a term of your employment you can be required to undertake such other duties commensurate with your grade, and/or hours of work, as may reasonably be required of you at your initial place of work or at any other of the Authority's establishments.
  • Responsible for protecting and managing information securely, and reporting breaches or suspected information security breaches, in line with Council policies.
