Housing Grants officer

Full time


  • Communicate with and provide appropriate advice and assistance to enquirers, complaints etc concerning issues related to the services provided by the Home Improvement Services
  • Screen initial enquiries and process requests for grant/financial assistance ensuring competent technical advice and assistance is provided to all clients
  • Visit dwellings and carry out full and detailed surveys (using the Housing Health &Safety Rating System) to determine the eligibility of works for financial assistance
  • Produce a detailed schedule in relation to works eligible for financial assistance, and maintain up to date schedule of rates to price these in comparison with builders quotes to ensure value for money
  • Carry out the test of resources (means test) in relation to grant applications using the FERRET computer software programme (or other appropriate method as directed) in order to determine the financial contribution of applicants accordingly


  • HNC Building or equivalent
  • Experience in building related profession
  • Experience in dealing with the public
