Personal Advisor - Children and Families
Junior School, Sheffield
Umbrella Pay- £14.65 per hour
08/07/2024 – 4 months initially
Monday to Friday, 08:45 - 17:00, 37 hrs/week – Office based (may have to work evenings and weekends as part of a rota, however additional payment will be made if you work out of hours)
  
Our client are seeking a Personal Advisor to join a Care Leaver’s team at a Junior School based in Sheffield.
  • Undertaking high quality needs assessment and pathway plans alongside social workers
  • Participate in Looked After Children reviews where a child is under 18
  • Encourage and empower young people to participate in planning and decision making for their futures
  • Support and advise young people leaving care by helping them to find suitable accommodation, assistance in budgeting and spending decisions, education, employment and training
  • Support care leavers in accessing health services
  • Coordinate the provision of services and take reasonable steps to ensure the young person makes use of such services
  • Working with multi agency partners
  • Act as an advocate for young people and support them to make decisions for their future
  • Ensure young people are visited within agreed timescales.
  • Keep in touch with care leavers to monitor their progress and wellbeing, and ensure they are aware of the local offer for care leavers
  • Travel and escort young people out of Sheffield where necessary
  • Keep full, accurate and up to date records of contacts with the young person and services provided
Requirements
  • Significant experience of working with young people leaving care or in related field
  • Direct experience of working with looked after young people and young adults between ages 16 and 25
  • Experience of multi-agency planning and joint working for looked after young people
  • Understanding of legislation relevant to leaving care e.g. Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and Children and Social Work Act 2017
  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service
