Referral Co-ordinator - MASH – Wokingham

Are you a passionate, dedicated Referral Co-ordinator looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Referral Co-ordinator to work in a MASH Team within Children Services in and around the Wokingham area.

Pay Rates: £15.17 - £19.00 per hour Umbrella rates

Information on the Role:
Wokingham Children’s Services are looking to recruit an agency Referral Co-ordinator in the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. The MASH Team is a fast-paced team and are the Single Front Door into Children’s Social Care and Early Help. The MASH Team receives referrals from police, schools, health organisations, other professionals, and family members when there are safeguarding concerns for a child/ren or when a family may require additional help, advice, and support. As a Referral Co-ordinator in the MASH Team, the team often see families at point of crisis, so it will be important that you are able to remain calm at all times and maintain a high level of professionalism. In addition to completing contacts, you will compile chronologies and share information when requested from other professional agencies. You will also provide a level of administrative support – particularly, around arranging multi-agency professional meetings at short-notice. The MASH Team is currently working in a hybrid way with Referral Co-ordinators on a rota basis in the office 2 weeks out of 3.

What you will be doing:
  • You will be supporting Social Workers and completing initial contacts with very strict timescales. This includes speaking on the phone to members of the public, professionals, and family members and recording detailed information, analyses, and recommendations about next steps for families in line with the Wokingham threshold guidance.
  • In addition to completing contacts, you will compile chronologies and share information when requested from other professional agencies. You will also provide a level of administrative support – particularly, around arranging multi-agency professional meetings at short-notice.
  • The correct candidate will need to have great inter-personal skills, excellent recording skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task.
  • Previous experience within Children’s Social Care or a similar field is desirable.
Essential Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 A* - C GCSEs/equivalent
  • Ability to interpret and identify appropriate information
  • Able to accurately input data and maintain records across multiply systems.
  • Need for high level of numeracy and communication skills and Able to use Word and Excel to an intermediate level, i.e.: able to use most of the systems functions without assistance.
  • Able to identify customers’ needs quickly and deal effectively with enquiries, which may be routine or involve dealing with complaints and difficult customers/situations
  • Analytical (Qualitative and Quantitative) skills
  • Familiarity with public sector context and safeguarding.
  • Good knowledge of IT and system
  • Understanding of child development and risk indicators for abuse and neglect
