Residential Support Worker - Children and Young People - Shrewsbury

Are you a passionate, dedicated Residential Support Worker looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Residential Support Worker to join a team based in Shrewsbury.

Umbrella Rate: £15.16 per hour 

Duration: 3 months initially

Hours: Rota basis - 37 hrs per week including some weekends

Residential Support Worker role: Full JD Available

  • Based in a residential care home providing accommodation and supporting Children and Young People between the ages of 5-18 years of both physical and learning disabilities
  • Provide care to children young people and their families based on an assessment of need and to access to a range of stimulating and safe activities and experiences within and external to the home
  • Contributing to the development and evaluation of care plans
  • Support children with day-to-day personal care needs and promoting their independence
  • Provide emotional, social and practical support to young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties
  • Referring issues as appropriate that requires specialist or management support
  • Ensure that the views and needs of children/young people are heard and responded to
  • Undertake routine household tasks e.g. cooking washing shopping and/or supporting young people to undertake these tasks to enable the smooth running of the home and to promote independence
  • Establish relationships and links within the community to assist the child, young person and their family
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships
  • Input to service planning meetings where required and attend meetings as directed, reporting issues raised to line management
  • Recording observations and maintain up to date files

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent within two years of taking up post
  • Recent experience working with children and young people with physical and learning disabilities
  • Experience providing personal care to children and young people
  • Experience in the development and evaluation of care plans
  • You Must Have Right to Live & Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS registered to the update service
