SEND Resolution Officer 
Leeds
15/07/2024 – 3 months initially
Monday to Friday, 37 hrs/week – Hybrid
  
Our client are seeking an experienced SEND Casework Officer to respond to Stage 1 and 2 complaints, Ombudsman investigations and other complex queries, as well as supporting the legal teams in responding to Judicial Review pre-action protocols.
  • Deal with complaints and legal challenges, including from Press
  • Advise and assist parents regarding the complaints process, specifically within appropriate educational provision and placement and cases where pupils have been referred under the Health-Education Notification process
  • Provide general advice to parents and schools on Children’s Services policies and statutory guidance on exclusions, admissions, and attendance issues
  • Ensure the voice of the child is heard and actioned
  • Provide written case statements for Local Government Ombudsman when required
  • Provide case statements for the Statutory Assessment and Provision Lead on request
  • Flexible and adaptable to change to assist other services as required commensurate to grade
  • Be aware of and comply with Leeds City Council policies and procedures e.g. child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
Requirements
  • Experienced SEND Casework Officer
  • Able to analyse and interpret multi-agency professional reports, to make judgements about children’s special educational needs and the provision required to meet those needs
  • Able to work flexibly across different work locations and areas as appropriate
  • Able to work independently and manage time effectively
