Senior Residential Child Care Officer - Birmingham

Are you a passionate, dedicated Senior Residential Child Care Officer looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Senior Residential Child Care Officer to join a team based in Birmingham. 

Umbrella Rate: £14.83 per hour

Duration: 2 months initially

Hours: Rota basis working between 7am – 9pm, 36.5 hrs/week (weekends included)

Senior Residential Child Care Officer role: Full JD Available

  • Direct work with children and young people
  • Meet the various social, emotional and educational rights and needs of children and young people
  • Provide personal care
  • Assist with the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Actively promote the child’s/young person’s education by assisting with and encouraging school attendance, homework, school liaison, attending parent’s meetings/evenings
  • Advocate for and support children and young people where necessary
  • Create Assessments, Placement Plans, Care Plans and Pathway Plans (where applicable) for each child or young person, and formulate clear aims and objectives for each child/young person
  • Assess the risk to each child and the arrangements in place to protect them
  • Observe and regularly report, in writing, on the behaviour and development and outcomes of the children and young people
  • Assist in returning children/young people to their families or help them to move on to alternative carers or preparing them for adulthood as part of the Care Plan and Pathway Plan
  • Create a caring and supportive environment for children and young people
  • Organise, provide and participate in activities for young people during their leisure time
  • Work with carers, families and other partner agencies in meeting the needs of Children Looked After
  • Maintain good professional, working relationships
  • Ensure the service is in a good, hygienic state with other staff
  • Attend meetings, reviews and conferences where necessary

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent, experience working with children, willing to support with personal care
  • Significant experience working with looked after children
  • Experience is child assessments
  • Experience in Placement Plans, Care Plans and Pathway Plans
  • Experience of overcoming barriers and engaging ‘hard to reach’ individuals, parents, young people and children
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • You Must Have Right to Live & Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS registered to the update service
