YOT Practitioner - Bexleyheath

Are you a passionate, dedicated YOT Practitioner looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a YOT Practitioner to join a team based in Bexleyheath.

Umbrella Rate: £26.46 per hour

Duration: 6 months initially 

Hours: 3 days a week, 9am – 5pm – Hybrid

YOT Practitioner role: Full JD Available

  • To work directly with children aged 10 to 17 years (and occasionally young adults) referred for an out of court disposal or by the court
  • Case management of high risk/ likelihood of re-offending cases
  • Assessment, planning and delivery of interventions
  • Provide support, guidance and assistance to children and young people and their parents
  • Acting a referrer to inventions available in Adult Services
  • Manage cases identified for transition to probation and be responsible for managing transition
  • Undertake allocation to Adult Services for transition cases
  • Liaison and sentence planning with the Probation Service regarding transition cases
  • Prosecute breaches where these are contested by the child
  • Act as a point of contact for the Probation Service Victim Liaison Units regarding cases eligible for Victim Contact Service involvement
  • Work as part of a multi-agency team across organisational boundaries with key partners to support needs prevent reoffending  
  • Make effective use of resources to meet the needs of children and young people
  • Report any safeguarding or risk-related issues and concerns to management in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Act as appropriate adult when young people are being interviewed at a Police Station as required
  • Prepare reports such as Pre-Sentence Reports, Breach Reports, Information for MAPPA etc.
  • Prepare bail applications which manage the perceived risks of the children and young people by the application of external controls and support
  • Provide a service to the court, to help inform sentencing and bail decisions
  • On site access to the Probation Service IT to help with background checks
  • Maintain accurate recordings on the YJS data base and Ndelius
  • Chair intervention planning meetings and other multiagency meetings

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant professional qualification and significant qualifying experience e.g. youth work, youth justice, probation, health, or equivalent
  • Experience of working with children with complex needs, aged 10-17, preferably in a youth justice setting
  • Experience of undertaking assessments of risk relating to children and young people, including risk to self and risk of harm to others
  • Experience in writing complex and sensitive reports
  • Experience with managing own workload/cases
  • Up to date knowledge of current relevant legislation including Children Act 1989 and 2004, Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information courts
  • You Must Have Right to Live & Work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child and DBS registered to the update service
