Intervention and Support Service – Qualified Social Worker

Rate: £37 (higher rate dependant on experience)

Structure:

Havering has a permanent senior management team in place – providing stability and support and vision for our children services.

ISS has now a full complement of permanent team managers in post – ready to build and develop their teams. This brings stability and consistency to practitioners and ensures good levels of support and supervision to assist in your ongoing development and day to day practice.

To ensure additional support for our social workers we also have 2 permanent consultant social workers who work closely with all our ASYE’s and social workers within the service – offering additional support and reflection spaces and also an opportunity for hands on social work support when required. This is in addition to our team of systemic practitioners who offer consultations and support to all our staff.

The Intervention and Support Service emphasises stability, whether achieved through good parenting within the family or a stable placement outside the family. We work in close partnership with schools, community health facilities, the voluntary sector and other partners to develop and provide preventative and targeted support. Essentially, supporting children, young people and their families where there is an identified need for ongoing intervention. You will be joining 1 of 8 teams of roughly 8-10 people, consisting of Senior/Specialist Social Workers, Social Workers, ASYE's led by a Team Manager. The service is overseen by a Head of Service, supported by 2 Group Managers. The service currently covers Child in Need, Child Protection (including PLO and care proceedings) and Children in Care cases. You will also have extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and experience in this field. As a Specialist Social Worker within the Intervention and Support Service you will be required to: 1. Ability to manage a caseload of complex and challenging cases 2. Capability to support the team manager in maintaining and developing high standards across the team 3. Represent the service in developing key service provision or strategy initiatives 4. Provide coaching and mentoring within the team as well as effective case management and high quality written work We promote a hybrid model of working for our social care staff, with a flexible approach involving working from our town hall campus/hubs. In this role, you are expected to work from our town hall campus during your teams duty week, for team meetings and other development days – and at the request of your manager. We are encouraging increased face to face working for teams as we know how important this is for social workers and all meetings with children and familiy take place face to face. You will require: 1. A current social work England registration and significant experience (e.g. at least 2 years) of working as a social worker with children and families, including assessments and statutory work. Equipment, benefits and additional information: You will be provided with a laptop and mobile phone. On your first day of work, we ask that you come to our Town Hall campus to collect and set up your laptop, mobile phone and your photo ID. Havering have designated car parks for staff and offer subsidised parking. We will set you up with an account on our parking system, and details on how to apply for a permit will be shared once you join. You will also have access to our systemic training offer and development pathway, as we aim to ensure our Face to Face model of practice is embedded by everyone in the service. Working location and arrangements (if not working from home): Town Hall, Main Road, Romford RM1 3AR Our main Town Hall campus benefits from excellent transport links via car or public transport. Our offices are located centrally in Romford, only 18 minutes from London Liverpool Street Station and easily accessible via the M25, A12, A406 and A127.
