Job Description
Oldham Council – Housing Options Advisor
Location: West Street, Oldham, Lancashire, OL1 1NL
Contract: Initial three-month contract with possible extension
Hours: Full Time / 9:00am – 5:00pm / Monday to Friday
Payrate: £11.50 an Hour to £14 an Hour
Description:
Applicant to have
extensive knowledge & experience of housing allocation
extensive experience of assessing housing register applications
IT skills
Key Tasks:
To establish and maintain effective links within the Council, partners and other relevant agencies ensuring customers and partners have access to advice and support related to their rehousing application.
Offer advice on Housing Options related queries which include the housing registration process, applying for a home, prospects advice and other housing options such as direct exchange and private rented.
To fully assess applications to the Council’s Housing Register. Including identifying eligibility for the Council’s Housing Register and Disabled Persons Register,
identifying reasonable preference and send communications out to customers informing them of the outcome of their application. Input customer details onto the Housing Register and Disabled Persons Register.
To carry out the periodic review of priority cases to ascertain whether they should retain their priority status and action accordingly.
To work closely with appropriate colleagues to ensure the swift discharge of the Council’s duty to accommodate and prevent homelessness.
Maintain appropriate records and administrative systems, including updating outcomes of lettings data from RSL partners, and provide statistical information and reports as required.
Produce information in different formats, including letters, reports, charts, maps and tables, and undertake mail-merges, using branded templates where applicable.
Enter data into systems, including checks for completeness and correctness of information before inputting.
Design straightforward spreadsheets including the inputting of basic formulae.
Manipulate data within systems and run reports (including exception reports), analyse and correct errors as appropriate.
Maintain effective and efficient office and information systems, including compliance with external requirements where necessary.
Undertake filing, both paper and computerised, and co-ordinate the archiving of documents and information according to the Council’s Data Retention Policy.
