Senior Carer-Care Home- Great Yarmouth

Are you a passionate, dedicated Senior Carer looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting several Senior Carers to work in Care homes in and around the Great Yarmouth area.


Purpose of the Role:

The candidates will be required to work in private care home locations (generally Older Peoples – Adults locations), which are suffering a staffing shortage due to COVID. Candidates will work in one single location for a period of up to eight weeks, they will not move between locations without a 10 day gap. Candidates will not be able to work elsewhere during the times they are not working. Candidates will be parachuted into one location to work for a period of up to eight weeks, and will then look to reallocate to a new location. Candidates will not be able to work for 10 days once completing a booking. During the period of not working the candidate will be paid.

Role Details:

  • To provide and ensure all aspects of personal care are provided to  residents/clients in line with their care plan using a person centred approach, encouraging and promoting service users to reach their maximum level of independence, wherever possible undertaking these tasks for themselves. This may include: help with mobility, help with toileting, washing & dressing

  • Display good communication skills (both written and verbal) as part of the key worker system, contribute to discussions on individual care plans and the reporting process by maintaining and updating records as required.

  • Administer medication to residents/clients as well as deal with visiting professionals and ensuring that their health and medical needs are met in full as prescribed by the GP and District Nursing Teams.

  • Ensure health & safety procedures are carried out by all staff in providing care to the residents/clients, ensure that all service user needs are met, to undertake other specialist tasks commensurate with the senior level of the post subject to service user needs, make a positive contribution to, and work constructively within the team, keep appropriate records of work and communications and file them appropriately, etc.

  • To build, maintain and promote good relationships with residents/clients, displaying good communication and listening skills, to ensure they are provided with an effective communication network. This may include: Talking and listening to residents/clients, helping them to maintain contact with family, friends and the community, assisting with shopping and recreation tasks and opportunities, being aware of their likes, dislikes, nutritional and cultural needs.

  • To care for the personal belongings (excluding cash and valuables) of residents/clients. This may include: Tidying bedrooms, cupboards\wardrobes, making beds, emptying commodes, Washing, cleaning and laundering personal property if necessary.

  • To support the nurses to undertake hourly checks of residents (where appropriate).

Skills and Experience:

  • Medication administration training
  • Experience of supervising and supporting Carers or Support Workers
  • NVQ 2 in health and social care
  • Previous healthcare experience in a care home setting at Senior Carer level
