Senior Infrastructure Support Officer – Derby City Council

Salary: £17

Full-Time (37 hours)

Purpose of post:

To provide a key lead in the provision of Infrastructure Support

To assist in the provision of management information, operational information, statutory and performance management returns.

Core work areas:

Assist in the delivery of the Infrastructure Support service for the organisation.

Support the Infrastructure and End User Computing Team Leader in their collaboration with all areas of ICT and ISS to ensure the operational delivery of the service within agreed service level targets.

Assist with the management of third-party suppliers to ensure effective delivery of the service.

Assist with the maintenance of appropriate records for proposed and existing infrastructure.

Contribute to initiatives designed to continuously improve the processes and procedures within the Department.

Act as a mentor for junior staff as and when considered appropriate.

 Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead on the day to day operation of the infrastructure support service.

Assist with and facilitate, continuous service improvement, both within the team processes and procedures and by suggesting or contributing to wider departmental initiatives.

Provide timely reporting to the Infrastructure and End User Computing Team Leader.            

Where appropriate, contribute to managing the relationship with key suppliers by liaising with the Client Services Manager.

Assist with the provision of appropriate technical and process focussed input and research into the provision of Infrastructure Support processes and procedures.

Ensure that full and accurate documentation is maintained on all infrastructure and that assets are correctly recorded in the appropriate Configuration Management Database or Asset Management system.

Assist with the management and recording of Key Performance Indicators contained within Service Level Agreements, taking appropriate actions when SLA targets are nearing breach.

Comply with the Council’s policies and procedures, financial regulations and departmental instructions.  Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Participate in the Council’s Achievement and Development process.

To undertake such other duties and tasks as may be determined by the Head of Service
