Job Description

Solihull – Childcare Solicitor

Location: Manor Square, Solihull, B91 3QB

Contract: Contract to March 2022

Hours: Full Time – Monday – Friday

Payrate: £19.64 an hour

To deal primarily with a caseload of care proceedings and related court matters, undertaking advice, case management, and advocacy.

The team is currently working from home and this is not expected to change in the immediate future.  Court hearings are also undertaken remotely, and so location is not critical, though this may change if the court presses for attending hearings to return.

This is a full-time vacancy, but we would consider candidates wishing to work 4 days pw, possibly 3.

We are ideally looking for candidates with experience of working within a local authority childcare legal team.

Managing a full, varied and demanding caseload.

Conducting litigation and advocacy on behalf of the Council in all levels of family, civil and criminal courts, tribunals, panels and enquiries.

Advising clients of legal and other consequences of proposed courses of action, so as to enable them to give or modify instructions effectively and to act lawfully, and in the best interest of the Council, Partner or Client.

Participating in the briefing and training of clients, colleagues, and wider partner authorities to ensure that they are kept up to date with the law and emerging issues.

As and when required attending Council Committees and Sub-Committees and handling legal and advisory work connected with this.

Accurately recording time worked.
