Coventry City Council – Lawyer

Location: One Friargate, Coventry, West Midlands, CV1 2GN

Contract: Initial three-month contract with further extension and possible permanent position

Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm / Monday to Friday

Payrate: £19 an Hour

Description:

Lawyer with experience of public law childcare work required. (Essential)

To provide a professional advisory, litigation and advocacy service within an area of specialism.

To manage a caseload of legal matters, and attend court, tribunal or public enquiry to present the council’s case.

Candidate Profile

Solicitor or Barrister and proven relevant experience of fee earning work

Knowledge of court and other procedures

Sound knowledge and understanding of the law within a specialist area(s).

An awareness of the importance of client care in a legal service

Experience of advocacy, drafting legal documents and researching the law

Ability to write clear/concise reports

Must be IT literate

Excellent communication skills

Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
