Are you a passionate, dedicated Band 6 Occupational Therapist looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting for an Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within the Early Supported Discharge Services in and around the Epping and Essex area.

Pay Rate: £24017-£28.17 per hour

This role is for 26 hours a week Monday to Friday – hours to suit the successful candidate , can consider weekend working and is for at least 12 weeks.

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to complete assessments and formulate treatment plans for a range of stroke and neurological patients
  • Ability to set SMART goals for stroke/neuro caseload
  • Complete access/home visits
  • Range of functional assessments- washing and dressing/kitchen
  • Cognitive assessments
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • NHS experience or similar (Relevant experience at Band 5 or 6 level – minimum of 18 months)

Job Summary:

  • To be a Specialist Occupational Therapist with expertise in neurology, responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, treatment and evaluation to patients, both in a Rehabilitation Ward setting and in the community as part of the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team.
  • To work as an autonomous professional according to the College of Occupational Therapy ‘Code of Ethics and Conduct’ and the ‘Health and Care Professions Council Regulations’.
  • To contribute to the overall service development of the team and actively participate in Continuing Professional Development. Provide leadership through supervision, mentoring, education and training.
  • To work as part of the integrated multi-disciplinary team to plan, deliver and evaluate all aspects of the patient treatment process, including rehabilitation, discharge and referral to appropriate community based health and social care agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Autonomously manage a complex caseload of neurological patients using clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessment and treatment.
  • To undertake comprehensive assessment of patients with a range of complex health and social care needs. This will require specialist assessment of all aspects of occupational performance (physical, cognitive, mental, social and environmental needs).
  • To develop collaborative treatment programmes with patients, carers and colleagues, demonstrating client-centred reasoning and specialist problem solving techniques.
  • Implement the appropriate occupational therapy intervention to enable the individual to achieve his/her optimum level of independence.
  • Evaluate patient progress, reassess and review treatment programmes as required through the monitoring of medical and rehabilitation needs and adjusting as required. This will involve determining the potential for rehabilitation and future care and support needs.
  • Plan and prioritise own workload and delegate tasks where appropriate to ensure effective use of time.
